Jeu d'Ego

2025 | October 11th, 2025 - November 9th, 2025

Solo exhibition | Maison de la Culture Marie-Uguay | Ma Première Maison de la Culture Program

Jeu d’Ego showcases an immersive investigation into the architecture of the psyche. Presented in the context of the Ma Première Maison de la Culture program, a collaboration with the Ville de Montréal and Voies Parallèles, this solo exhibition marks a pivotal exploration of the friction between external play and internal unrest.

Through a vibrant juxtaposition of saturated oil paintings and trompe l'oeil ceramic-like papier-mâché sculptures, Pascale Jean interrogates the concept of psychological discomfort. By employing a subversive, colorful palette, Jean lures the viewer into a space that initially feels whimsical but quickly reveals a deeper, more rigorous reflection on disturbing emotional states and the complexity of the self.

The works function as a mirror to the ego, using playful figuration to dissect the very emotions we often seek to suppress.

Ma Première Maison de la Culture, supported by Ville de Montréal.

In collaboration with Voies Parallèles.

Featured in Narcity Montreal as a definitive cultural highlight of the Autumn 2025 season.
